Epic Sci-Fi Novel Series by Bristol-Born Author to be Adapted for TV
A Bristol-born author’s work will be adapted for the screen by big Hollywood names, including Paul Shapiro and Greg Silverman.
Shapiro, whose credits include The X-Files and Supernatural, and Silverman, who produced The LEGO Movie 2 and 10 Things I Hate About You, are part of the team adapting the work of Gareth L. Powell, who was born in Clifton and now lives in north Somerset.
Powell’s sci-fi trilogy Embers of War will be adapted to a TV show by US production companies Stampede Ventures and wiip.
Breck Eisner will direct and Gary Graham is writing the screenplay. Both will also executive produce along with Greg Silverman and Paul Shapiro, with Powell as co-executive producer.
“I’m very proud of the books and fond of the characters, but an adaptation like this is a dream for many writers, and not one most of us expect to come true,” says Powell.
“I still can’t quite believe it. I guess the reality of it all has yet to sink in for me.”
