Firefly Emerges From Stealth With $21.5M Seed Funding To Boost Ride-Hail Driver Revenues With On-Car Ads
After operating in beta for almost a year, Firefly officially announced its launch. Firefly, a Cross Culture Ventures company, is the first-mover in mobility-based smart displays and proprietary “situationally aware” software designed for taxis and TNCs, supporting drivers, small businesses, and nonprofits, while generating actionable data to promote smarter cities.
“Jumping into the corporate world after spending many years working for and supporting non-profits like Habitat for Humanity, I was adamant to create a company that would benefit as many people as possible. While pursuing my MBA at Stanford a number of my friends drove for on-demand rideshare companies. It was in talking to them that I realized, despite the promise of flexible and well-paying work, they had to continue to drive longer hours to make the same amount of income they had made just a couple months before. So, when my co-founder and childhood friend from Turkey and I both ended up in Palo Alto, we decided to build the foundation of our company supporting drivers, communities and smart cities as a whole.” — Kaan Gunay, co-founder and CEO
